In our latest Meet The Team blog we chat to Paula Allan, our in-house graphic designer. It’s easy to think of all the roles needed to get a house on the market and subsequently sold; the valuer, the photographer and the property managers but what about the people behind the scenes, supporting the teams and ensuring that our clients are being offered the most up to date and effective technologies, marketing techniques and ideas?
We caught up with Paula for a quick chat whilst she was designing our latest office (more to come on that exciting development soon!) to hear all about what she gets up to every day, what she loves about her role and why it’s so important.
MOV8: Thanks for taking the time to talk to us Paula. First of all, what do you do on a day-to-day basis?
PA: I like to spend at least five minutes of my day checking out the latest market trends and seeing what influences people in the choices that they make. I also look to see if and how these trends could be incorporated into any marketing material MOV8 Real Estate produces. Apart from that my day varies which is what I like about it; one day I could be working on a digital marketing campaign, and the next working with images of superheroes!
MOV8: Why is it so important to have well designed schedules and For Sale Boards?
PA: Making something eye-catching so that it stands out from the crowd is important, especially when it comes to the sale of your home. If there are lots of other properties for sale in the area you want to make sure yours is the one that is noticed. Great photography, presentation and well-positioned For Sale Boards are vital to make this happen.
MOV8: Do you do any other types of design work as well as the For Sale Boards and the schedules?
PA: I work on a variety of different marketing materials to assist in the presentation and promotion of MOV8; from door-drop flyers to advertising and recently the office signage and displays for our Newington Branch. I am also lucky to be able to work on marketing items for a few of the charitable foundations that MOV8 support.
MOV8: What do you enjoy most about your job?
PA: As one of my colleagues likes to remind me, I get to work with pretty pictures! I am lucky to be able to work in an environment where innovation and imagination are a big part of the day.
MOV8: As a homeowner yourself what’s the best bit of property advice you’ve ever heard?
PA: First impressions do matter – make sure your property has as much appeal as possible and present it in the best manner possible.
MOV8: And finally, what’s your favourite part about working at MOV8?
PA: I get to work with interesting colleagues who don’t think twice when asked to dress up in costume or gorge themselves on cake all in aid of charity. To me, that is a mark of good character and great values.
