Property Selling Guide
The process of selling property in Scotland has seen a lot of changes in the last few years, including the introduction of Home Reports in 2008 which was a game-changer. Here we set out the various steps to selling your property so that you can make informed decisions.
Property Selling Guide
What is a property valuation?
Before you can make a decision about selling your property, you need to know how much it is likely to sell for on the open market. A solicitor/estate agent can provide this property valuation for you. They will look at comparable sales of properties in your area, use their knowledge of the local market and demand levels, and provide you with an accurate estimate of what they would expect your property to sell for. It’s not the same as a survey and could perhaps better be described as a ‘market appraisal’.
How much does a property valuation cost?
Most estate agents and solicitor/estate agents will provide you with a property valuation free of charge. The valuation stage is an opportunity to build trust and is a key stage in the relationship between a seller and solicitor/estate agent.
