Following the huge success of a similar initiative on behalf of the Sick Kids charity in 2016, MOV8 recently sponsored the production of a number of water bottles that were then sold to raise money for the Maggie’s Centre in Edinburgh.
The unstoppable fundraising force that is Gilly Herbert approached MOV8 in early 2017, asking whether we would be able to support the initiative. The concept is simple: as part of its pledge to give a proportion of its profits and to donate its human resources to support good causes, MOV8 sponsors the purchase and production of the water bottles and then Gilly arranges for them to be sold to thirsty customers who are happy to support a worthy cause. All proceeds are then donated to the charity.
Maggie’s provides free practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer and their family and friends, following the ideas about cancer care originally laid out by Maggie Keswick Jencks. Maggie’s Centres are built around her belief that people should not “lose the joy of living in the fear of dying”. Built in the grounds of NHS cancer hospitals, Maggie’s Centres are places with professional staff on hand to offer the support people need. The Maggie’s Centre in Edinburgh is based in the grounds of the Western General Hospital.
We are delighted to say that, so far, the sale of these bottles has raised £1,004.35 for the Maggie’s Centre.
